After that House of Koko in Chapel Allerton got in touch and wanted the same thing on their windows and in their toilet. Both of these were a nightmare to do, I had to go in the evening to do the window and it was freezing and the windows were soaking wet with condensation so it took ages waiting for it to dry! The toilet was a nightmare too because the walls had been painted really badly and bumpy so it took about 3 or 4 drawings ontop of eachother for it to not look patchy.
Then I was asked again by East Parade Social to draw all along their corridor which would be the entrance for the rooftop bar theyre opening. This took forever it was massive! And in the lift too which was scary to do alone at 11pm when noone was in the building bar 2 builders on the roof finishing the bar.
I was getting so bored and sick of the types of drawings I was doing on these murals, but it was what the clients wanted, especially East Parade Social who had kind of adopted the original drawings I'd done on the window as their branding and so I had to continue that style throughout even though I was getting super tired of drawing these same generic images over and over. I was asked to paint a mural on the rooftop bar, Ive always wanted to paint a proper mural so this was really exciting, although they only wanted in drawing in white which was a bit of a shame. I took this as an opportunity to switch up the visual language a bit. I kept it still inkeeping with they liked from before but I made it feel more me and more interesting to me. I'm really pleased with how it came out and it stands as a slight shift in the way I want to design things for them so that I'm enjoying it as well as them and I don't feel that what I'm creating is boring. So this was a really valuable step even though it was freezing on the roof and took me ages because the wood was so rough.
Doing this murals has been a great source of steady income throughout the year to help pay for my living costs and in the future I'd like to do more and branch out into more interesting murals - colour, larger scale, scene based murals etc!
