Study Task 10 - Instagram Post

My instagram account has always been dedicated to my work and its grown pretty big since I started it which is still a bit bonkers to me.

Choosing these 9 was quite easy, this year has been a really difficult one in terms of taking on way too much and struggling with workload and confidence but it has been so valuable in building my portfolio and professional experience. I've become a lot more confident and comfortable in who I am as an illustrator and what I'm trying to say and to who, especially towards the end of the year. I want to make visceral, playful work which translates my curiosity in a wonky way. I used to be quite conscious that contemporary illustration is very digital focused recently and I am not a digital illustrator, however I'm gaining the knowledge and the confidence to not lose my analogue practice and how to keep that handmade charm but put it into a professional context. Some of the highlights this year have been the Kirkgate Market book as it proved to myself that I was capable of making something professional and final without losing my original sketchy work and in a very short space of time if I put my mind to it. Similarly the animated music video I made was a really big challenge both technically and time constraint wise. It was v daunting but so rewarding once it was finished and released into the world. I've done a lot of murals this year, all at 2 business in Leeds and I'm keen to grow that and to expand my mural work into more colourful and self-led pieces. The work I've enjoyed creating the most year has come towards the end of the year where I've calmed down a bit and gotten a better grasp of myself and my practice so I'm excited for a Summer and a third year of making and learning and growing and collecting bits and bobs.
