Working with Musicians

- Really enjoy working with musicians, collaborating with a creative from a different field, brings new ideas, new ways of looking & ways of absorbing & ways of applying illustration

-Music is a big place for illustration, especially at the moment I'm seeing a lot of my favourite bands going for illustration for single/album artwork which is really exciting. Would love to keep working within this industry in the future.

- My boyfriend is a musician which has opened me up to the Leeds music scene which is a vibrant and supportive community

- Done work for one of his bands Sea Legs -

- love working with them, we're on the same page in terms of aesthetic taste, really fun to come up with ideas of what we can do. Taught myself how to animate and made them a music video (was a stressful rushed 2 week thing but definitely want to do more in the future)

Far Caspian

- approached by another Leeds based band Far Caspian, who had seen my work with Sea Legs, wanted me to design them a tshirt design
- fun brief, wanted something similar to what he'd seen on my Instagram- a wonky drawing of him
- he sent me a picture of a painting someone had given him at their gig in Paris where they'd done their own version of my tshirt design which was so cool!!

- Orla Gartland

- v lovely Irish musician
- contacted me on Instagram, an illustrator she works with Demi Whiffin had recommended me to her
- asked me to design her a tshirt design for her song 'Overthinking', she sent me some visuals of what she was after which was really helpful
- She sends audio feedback which is fun and closest we could get to face to face feedback, made the whole thing smoother because I could immediately get her points
- a few months later she contacted me again and was after a print design for her EP "Freckle Season", it had a very quick turn around, but I'm glad I took on the job because I'm quite pleased with the outcome.
- She later asked if she could make this into a tshirt design and whether it would cost extra, I felt awkward asking for money even though thats silly and I know that I needed to, but she was so fine with it which goes to show that people are happy to pay you for your work and I need to grow a backbone
- She is really lovely to work with and has a very sweet fanbase who received the work well! v good experience

Heir - Blueprint

- Heir are another Leeds band who my boyfriend went to LCoM with so I know them already.
- They put on these great collaborative music and art events and asked me if I wanted to be involved in their Freshers special event and if I wanted to do the poster!!
- I had lots of fun doing this poster, was right when I had got into a love affair with dip pen and ink,
was a new approach to me to digitally colour but it was a fun new way of working
- I think events like this are really important in celebrating and supporting the local arts scene of which Leeds has a great one!!
