hepworth

This was the first time I'd been to the Hepworth in Wakefield. I loved it.
- really nicely set out, open space around the sculptures
- so many kids drawing
- simple forms and shapes !!
- seeing a collection of her books and visual inspirations was super cool. importance of books.
- vastness of her sculptures, something you can't see on a screen, seeing how they work together as a set
- an important female artist.

sketches from the museum

illustrations made as part of reportage COP project.

At the moment there's an exhibition on by Anthony McCall called Solid Light Works.
This was absolutely incredible.
Very clever use of light, disorientation, shadows, reflections and mist. Made you feel lost and disorientated but in the best kind of way. A really interesting interactive space where you could block and change the light paths. Kids were fascinated. It was great seeing cabinets of his roughs and multiple sketchbooks. There's beauty in the process and the preliminary work.

theres a ceramics fair on in may at the hepwork. i shall be back.
